In 1997, Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna sent ripples throughout the choral world. Originally premiered by the LA Master Chorale, its influence on choral music and musicians has been felt far and wide, cementing its status as one of the most performed works of the late 20th century. This season, Lux Aeterna receives its first performance with orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall to commemorate this occasion.

One of Lux Aeterna’s biggest fans became a choral rock star in his own right: Eric Whitacre, who begins a two year residency with the LA Master Chorale with a newly commissioned work. And if this wasn’t enough, Artistic Director Grant Gershon has included iconic music from some of LA’s most influential composers including Esa-Pekka Salonen, Shawn Kirchner, and commissions of new works by Moira Smiley and Billy Childs.

This production is made possible with generous underwriting from Kiki and David Gindler.

Contributing Sponsors: The Blue Ribbon, Kathleen and James Drummy, Ann Graham Ehringer, Ph.D., Cheryl Petersen and Roger Lustberg, Susan Erburu Reardon and George Reardon.
