Stephanie Sharpe Peterson, soprano

Stephanie Sharpe Peterson
Voice part: Soprano
Season you joined the Chorale: The same year as Grant – I’m going on my 10th season.
Birthplace: Wisconsin
Education/Vocal Training: UCLA
Do you make your living as a musician? No
If not, what else do you do as a “day job”? I’m a stay-at-home mother of 3 darling little boys, ages 4, 3, and 1.
Recordings/TV/Film: Itaipu with the LA Master Chorale and Grant Gershon
Highlights of your musical career: It’s been an absolute privilege working with great talents like Grant Gershon, Zubin Mehta, Esa-Pekka Salonon, John Adams, Gustavo Dudamel and others over the course of my tenure with the Chorale. Performing at the incredible Walt Disney Concert Hall and the legendary Hollywood Bowl are memories I will always cherish.
Favorite choral work: Brahms Requiem. It’s the first choral work I ever sang and I still enjoy singing it!
A defining moment or favorite onstage experience: There are two that immediately come to mind: When I attended my first LA Master Chorale rehearsal ten years ago I was blown away by the beautiful singing and excellent sight-reading! I was thrilled to be a part of such a talented, dedicated organization and was grateful to have been selected to be a part of this amazing group. My other defining moment: Singing in the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the first time– what an incredible experience it was! The acoustics are amazing, and the venue couldn’t be more perfect!
What are you listening to these days?: A lot of stuff my kids like to listen to – all the familiar children’s songs we all grew up singing. I enjoy the music of Michael Bublé. After college I got hooked on a local band from Venice, CA called Venice and I still enjoy listening to the harmonies of their music.
Anything you’d like to add about yourself?: In my spare time, I volunteer with the Junior League, an international organization dedicated to helping women and children in need.
