Do you make your living as a musician? Some of it.
If so, where else do you gig/teach/conduct/sing/perform? Recording studios in LA
If not, what else do you do as a “day job”? I make virtual things, social video games being my current adventure. I also do some voice-over work.
Where else do you sing NOW? Where do I sing NOW? Right NOW? I’m not singing NOW. I’m typing now.
Highlights of your musical career: My first season with the LA Master Chorale definitely makes the list, including my first time singing on stage at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Others include singing bass for Spiralmouth, a groundbreaking a cappella rock band; Playing bass for Gabriel Mann; Touring Europe and S. Korea with various choral groups.
A defining moment or favorite onstage experience: Singing for thousands of leg-warmer–clad mothers and daughters at the International Jazzercise convention. Yes, it still exists.
What are you listening to these days? Mostly podcasts lately, This American Life and Radiolab being some of my favorites. Plus whatever my kids are listening to.
Anything you’d like to add about yourself? When I’m not singing, working, or spending time with my family, I’m often running through the streets and trails of LA, Pasadena, and Glendale. Sometimes barefoot.
