The Los Angeles Master Chorale’s well-received six-year Bach Christmas Oratorio cycle concludes with Cantata No. 6 – written for the Feast of the Epiphany – at the choir’s annual holiday concert on Sunday, December 10, 2006, at 7 p.m., at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The celebratory work, conducted by Music Director Grant Gershon, recounts the journey of the Wise Men who follow a star to the modest manger where Mary and Joseph’s newborn son lays. Featured soloists, all of whom are Chorale members, are soprano Joanne Lee, alto Helene Quintana, tenor Cahen Taylor (“Evangelist”), tenor Pablo Corá (Recit and aria), and bass Scott Graff. Gershon also conducts a bountiful array of Old World choral classics and seasonal favorites. William Beck is guest organist.

The program also includes Hodie nobis de coelo by Peter Phillips, Ave Maria by Franz Biebl, S’vivon arranged by Valerie Shields, Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre and Silent Night arranged by Paul Sjoland. In addition, Gershon conducts Sleigh Ride arranged by Michael Edwards and Go Where I Send Thee arranged by André Thomas and Ding Dong! Merrily On High arranged by C. Jennings.

Tickets to “rejoice” range from $19–$94. Group rates are available.
