Back by popular demand! There's a real chemistry between the Chorale and the superb Luckman Jazz Orchestra. Partnering with the Luckman for our triumphant tribute to Duke Ellington was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
LA Jazz Scene hailed the Luckman's “wonderful, world-class musicians” and Variety wrote that “Ellington would have killed for a chorus of the caliber of the Master Chorale which produced a luminous carpet of sound… lustily shouted out… and got the tricky syncopation right.”
One great concert deserves another. We're delighted to announce a Disney Hall jazz-fest with the Luckman Jazz Orchestra as our super-charged season finale. James Newton and Grant Gershon will again share the podium in the free-form fashion that delighted musicians and audience alike in our first collaboration. Variety noted that after “making beautiful, heart-tugging harmonies bloom in the detailed Disney acoustics… Gershon and Newton hugged each other. They knew they had pulled off something special.”
When the Luckman and the Chorale jazz it up, it's a high-energy event.
