Our closing concert is a tribute to the late great Polish composer Henryk Górecki, frequently compared in musical style to Arvo Pärt and John Tavener. Grant programmed Górecki’s Miserere his very first season as Music Director, generating wildly enthusiastic audience response. The work starts with the low basses chanting the melody for about three minutes, then building layer upon layer until the full choir swells to a stunning sonic conclusion. Since Mr. Górecki’s death November 12, 2010, an urgent interest in preserving and savoring his choral work inspired this concert and CD. Don’t miss this rare event!

NEWS This concert will be recorded as our next Decca CD for release fall 2012!

The sonic production of the Master Chorale is, simply, awesome.” Classical Voice
